The Moon On A Slow Day

Mezzotint and etching -final state. 9″ x 11″ -1989

This was a piece I did in printmaking class. The teacher would likely regard it a failure. Clearly there are problems with it. I was not an enthusiastic printmaker. In my early 20s I lacked the patience to fully explore the medium, but I also didn’t truly understand how to manipulate it properly until I saw originals by the great masters.
That said, it is one of the few plates that I have kept over the years, and occasionally I think about trying to rework it, though perhaps, I will just revisit the subject matter in a more comfortable medium.
